Secret Beach

CONTAINS SPOILERS FOR DRAWN TO LIFE, DO NOT READ IF YOU HAVE NOT FINISHED THE FIRST GAME!!!

"DAD! NO!!!"
Mari screamed dashing forward as her fathers lifeless body began to fade.

But she wasn't fast enough.

Just as she knelt down beside him, the Mayor's outline disappeared in a soft, shimmering light.
Mari placed her hands on the spot were he had been and began to weep.

Jowee stepped forward, his eyes watered in sorrow as he gently touched her trembling shoulder.

"Mari...I..."

Before he could say anymore, Mari jumped up and turned to Doodle who was watching from a few paces away.

"You should have protected him!!!" She shouted furiously

Doodle's face lit with shock before melting into grief.

"I'm sorry, Mari... I didn't... I didn't know..."

"You SHOULD have known!!!" Mari yelled rushing up to him.
"You should have been there to save him!" "Your useless Doodle! USELESS!!!

Without pausing for Doodle's reaction Mari turned and raced through the trees. Ignoring Jowee as he called out for her to stop.
The whole village seemed to blur around her as she ran, as If it wasn't even real... Her thoughts tumbled inside her head so much she could barley comprehend them herself.

"This wasn't supposed to happen!"

"Dad wasn't supposed to die!"

"I'm not ready to be mayor!"

"Its not fair! Its not fair!!!"

She began to slow when she realized were her feet had taken her. Looking up to see the trees that hid the path to the secret beach.
Slowly, she wove her way around them and stepped out onto the cool sand.

"Dad loved this place as much as I did..." she said as she remembered how he had smiled when he saw the beautiful view for the first time.
"But the last thing we did together was fight..."

A sudden dreadful thought crossed her mind.

She remember what the Creator told them in Creation Hall before the hero was brought into the world.
She had warned them that the mayor was in danger.

"I thought she was warning us about how Wilfre had trapped dad in the Snow Fields... But maybe... She meant this!"

Stepping farther onto the beach so that she could feel the spray from the sea, Mari looked out to the fiery colored horizon as its light sparkled on the dark ocean waves.

"You knew."

"You knew this would happen..."

"So why...?"

She fell to her knees holding back a choking sob. Placing her hands together to pray.

"Creator... Why did you take my dad?"

The only answer was the sound of the sea's gentile waves.

This is for she requested Mari praying on the Secret Beach! This is one of the hardest traditional drawings I've ever done. I literally colored a hole sheet of paper. My poor colored pencils...
She didn't request the story, but I wanted to, just because she's such an awesome person! ^^

I decided to use the scene from the game were Mari's father died as inspiration.
I always felt that scene was lacking in emotion, I think they should have spent more time on that part of the game.
Thats why I just had to write in out to see if It could executed better through Mari's point of view.

I used Tayono's character Doodle as the hero in the writing part, cuz I felt like it was a good fit for him. I also made Tayono the creator in case none of you caught the hint. ^^

I dont really like how I wrote this... But Im quite proud of the colors in the picture. Thats my first sunset I ever colored.
